Our Veterinarians
Dr. Joseph A. May is the owner and senior DVM at King's Mountain Animal Clinic. He attended Virginia Tech and graduated with honors with a Bachelor of Science in Biology in 1973.
He attended the University of Georgia and graduated with honors in 1976. He then lived in Maryland and worked for a year in a 4 Doctor mixed animal practice.
Dr. May established his own practice, King's Mountain Animal Clinic, in Collinsville Virginia on June 13th 1977.

Dr. May enjoys both medicine and surgery. He performs most of the more advanced surgeries at our hospital, such as cruciate repairs, feline thyroid surgery and ear trims.
Dr. May especially enjoys spending time with his family. He is pictured here with his Granchildren Brantley and Kenleigh.
Dr. Catherine DeMott has been with our clinic since the winter of 1996. She was a pre-vet at Va. Tech and earned her B.S. in biology and also a Member of Charter class at VA-MD regional College of Veterinary Medicine graduating in 1984. She worked in Richmond at a 3 Doctor small animal practice for 10 years and a small animal practice in Lynchburg for a year. Dr. DeMott has an interest in exotic animals such as birds, rabbits, snakes and iguanas. She is pictured here with one of our "in house" cats, Leroy who is a blood donor when we need one.
Dr. Hiedi Orr
Dr. Hiedi Orr received her undergraduate degree in Biology from West Virginia University in 1996. Go Mountaineers!!! In 2000, she graduated from Tuskegee University School of Veterinary Medicine in Tuskegee, Alabama.
She has made Collinsville, Virginia her permanent home. She is very happy living in a smaller town because she enjoys getting to know her patients and their families on a more personal basis.
In her spare time, she enjoys scrapbooking and spending time with her family and friends.
She has recently had a beautiful baby girl, Madeline Jade. Madeline was born on May 12, 2008. Hiedi and Madeline share their home with Carmen Louise, a Jack Russell Terrier, and three cats, Binks, Calvin, and Patches.
Licensed Veterinary Technician
Deborah Akers joined us in the summer of 2006. She lives in Snow Creek with her husband, two boys, dog, cat, and guinea pig. Deborah graduated from Blue Ridge Community College in 2003. She is continuing her studies in anesthesia and pain management to provide the best care and ensure the most comfort possible for our patients.
She is a member of Glade Hill Baptist church and enjoys singing and spending time with her family.
